Sorry if this has been asked (might have missed it), but how deep is the bedding? If it's not deep enough that could be a reason why they don't dig. Wheels, it's common for gerbils to not understand them, so don't worry! The advice you've gotten so far is great! You sound like a very responsible owner, btw. ETA: Here are some pictures of tunnels. www.gerbilcraze.com/photogallery_tunnels.shtml

Uhura - PAH is Pets At Home. Its shortened to make it easier lol! Pets At Home is the eqivilent of the US's Pet Smart. We (in the UK) used to have Pet Smart but they changed over to Pets At Home. Boz - Thanks for the link. I couldn't find any!! And i couldn't remember your sites address! Woops! Rach27 / Gerbil Owner Dude - Plastic is hugely reccomended to be avoided. Purely because gerbils can AND will chew plastic. Boz (the Mod above my post) had her gerbils chew through pretty solid PVC piping. It's purely not worth the risk. If you want solid stirdy tubes you can get ahold of many for instance, the Chubes. They come in many difference sizes, there are smaller ones to the giant ones, i can get the giant ones for £1.50-£2.50 at my local shops. Chubes - www.thearkpetshop.com/?p=2_4&gr=Critters%20Choice%20Chube%20Ex.%20Large&pid=15787Or you could go to a carpet store and ask them for the inner rolls for the carpet rolls. They are REALLY thick cardboard, plus they are free because they have to pay for them to be binned otherwise . x
