have one litter....but...like Kate...I'd hate to have to find homes for them! Guess we'll stick to one kind and enjoy hearing about pups from you all! Someone we know ended up with 44 babies...and I think Kate has told this story...she rescued two....the others..before we knew about the two little girls...had been all let go in a field!!! How horrible was that??!! They kept two males though. Those poor babies, just let go and I'm sure they either died or became dinner for a cat or some other small animal. Some folks just don't use their heads...and this lady is a teach in the second grade! Oh well...enjoy your pups...can't wait to see a picture of the newbies. Hugs, Cathie;)

We're having a crisis here. Last night one of the pups died in my hands, the remaining 3 have respiratory problems. I first noticed that our littlest one was popping Tuesday night and got some ornacycline Wed. Gave it to her, the rest were fine, so I just put some in the water bottle for the rest of the family. Did the same Thursday, but was gone for a sleep study Thursday night and most of Friday. Last night I checked and one more was "poppy," one of the larger ones. I medicated them both, and while I was warming them before putting them back, the larger one died. Today all but one are popping. I've medicated them all, even the healthy one. Still w/med in w.bottle for mom and dad too. I'll be cleaning out their tank in a few to see if that helps. Sigh. I was all excited yesterday because my camera was finally coming home (with my kids) so I could finally take pics. Well, I still can, just not of everyone that was born. To make matters worse, the pup's death came on the heels of our little corn snake dying last weekend. My poor son is learning the hard way about life and death. Since we first started having pets other than the cat, we've lost 3 snakes, 7 baby house geckoes, a lot of local tree frogs, a toad, a couple of newts, and a gerbil pup. (Good Lord, it sounds like we're incompetent pet owners! It's been over the course of 2 1/2 yrs, tho', and most of the reptile/amphib. losses were just due to weak and/or sick wild caught animals, not neglect. Two of the snakes were rushed to the vet in the middle of the night to no avail.) Gotta go clean out tanks, now. Will post pics either today or tomorrow. Happy New Year everyone!

I am so sorry to hear your troubles yes clean out the tank and add fresh bedding. Try to avoid anything dusty and keep it shallow (in case you have to make any more quick bedding changes and to make it easier to keep track of the pups). Give loads of plain white tissues. Try supplementing with kitten or replacment milk..I find soaking it bread in makes it easy for the pups to drink, just introducethe pups to it.byt putting them on it!! Crude but it works. Do you have a spare heat mat? put it under one part of the cage (so that, liek snakes, they can move on and off the warm patch. Obviously avoid draughts but do make sure there is plenty of ventilation around the tank. Good luck.
I hoep yoru pups make it.

Thanks Cake Lady. I appreciate the support. I'll keep everyone posted on the pups' progress. Cam seems to be adjusting ok. We took the kids to the drive-in tonight, so he's had at least one decent day!

glad to hear you had a family outing...to take everyone's mind off of sadness. Hope the mom and pups are continuing to improve. My little girls are doing well. They love...or are getting to love...their high rise...the wire 'upstairs' they received today. At least I haven't seen Ginger jumping today! Hugs, Cathie;)
