They should be fine now pixy. Just make sure that everyone becomes nice and fat . Runts will be quite skinny or be slower in developing their fur.

They are still all fine this morning.I was a little worried last night as one of the babies was kicked far away from the nest and the father buried it, is this normal? Do you think there is a chance i could have any black gerbils i hope so. The mother is agouti and dads dove. thanx pixytwinkle

Unless the mom has no recessives at all, you should get some colours other than agouti (black, argente, lilac or dove).

Congrats on your new pups ;D Yeah, it's normal for dad to bury a pup in bedding, I'm glad the parents are doing a good job. Have you taken any pictures? If you see red eyes dad must carry Pp, so that means you'll definently have Argente golden and argente cream pups, plus golden agouti!! If he carrys Aa, lilac, dove, and black to. The pups could still have red eyes though if he carries PP if he has Cch, then you'll get DTW and REW pups.

I had the funniest thing happen today Drunk, Dissy and their runt daughter Ragamuffin (whos adult but half gerbil size) live together. Dissy had 7 pups new years eve/day. Today Raggy was at on the pups while mum was asleep in their little house. Mum realised I was looking and came out to demand treats. I dropped a nut in and Raggy left the pups to get some. Suddenly the whole pile of pups was sent flying as Drunk appeared from UNDERNEATH them!!! It was SOOOOOOOOOOOOO funny. But yes I love how Dads are so god with pups too.

hi everything is going fine i am amazed at how quick they grow they are quite large now with a tiny bit of fuzz. I have that i think is a dove it has red eyes and its really light like the father but its not white. 2 of them are a shade darker any idea what these could be? And the last pup is really dark i think he is going to be either agouti like mum or black is this possible. Thanx all for you congrats! I tried to take a pic tonight but the light was really bad so im going to try again tomorrow! thanx pixytwinkle

Yes, you can tell at 7 days, but it's harder to sex them then. 10/11 days is around the easiest time, but some really experienced breeders can tell at 3 days, lol, I have to wait until they've got a shade of fuzz though. 3 girls, cute ;D All my litters have been more boys then girls so far, the most girls I've ever had in one litter, is 2. hmm, could be lilac pups if they're only a little darker. Statistically the last pup should be agouti, if the others are doves and lilacs, since he'd be the only Aa pup in the group out of 4 and that's still under par, but that's what I love about the litters is the suprises, since the colors don't usually turn out exactly in line w/the statistics. I haven't been able to get any of my pics to post, so I'm going to use this as a test to see if it'll work w/other ppl's pics- these are from the ags site, plus it helps to see all the different choices right next to each other. They're all at different ages in the pics so it's harder to tell... How light are the light pups? Argente Cream Argente's w/spot lilac and dove Agouti Black

hey thanx Callmico that help alot. From that i can see that the dark one is definatly agouti and not black. Do you know how old the lilac and dove pups are in this pic as my smallest pup that i think is a dove is alot lighter than that. The two that i think are lilac are also lilac but there only 7 days and only just getting fur so could this be the reason? The pup that i think is dove is very small compared to the others and seems to be pushed away everytime the others are feeding. Is this the runt? Is there anything i need to do to help her? sorry theres alot of questions but i just want to be sure. thanx pixytwinkle

I'm glad the pictures worked out;DThe dove and lilac pups are probably around 14 days old, so yes, they'd look darker then yours. Which pup is the boy? Yeah, the dove pup is probably a runt. If you think she's not getting enough to eat, you could take a small piece of bread, soak it in kitten Milk Replacement and let her sip that. If she doesn't gain weight or falls behind the others in development, you could try taking them out, have them in a small kleenex box with lots of shredded tissues for 10 minutes or so, and let the lone pup nurse from mom. But if mom doesn't nurse the pup while the others are out you might have to stick w/ KMR. Good luck with your pups ;D Are you going to keep them?
