Hi, I'm new to this board. I'm from Germany and recently got 4 male Duprasi from someone, who could not longer care for them. I have them in a 130x60x50cm rodent-tank (that's an aqua with an air-fence thing alongside the front of the glas) and filled it up with a hemp-substrate on the ground level and on that a huge pile of wood-shaving. They are great diggers and seem to love this combination. They have two houses in there and some other stuff for entertainment. I tried a wodent-wheel once, but the next day it looked like something out of a horror movie, everywhere was blood, so I took it out again. If they dig, they don't seem to fight over the chips I could not find a special spot where they would drop their pee and it does not smell at all. My question would now be, how often am I supposed to change their substrate? Once a month, everything at once or just half of it How do you keep your Duprasi? On sand or wood-shavings or something else? This is, how the tank looks alike click on the link for a larger pic img192.imageshack.us/i/fettigehege.jpg/And here are my boys - they are my first Gerbils click on the link for a larger pic img100.imageshack.us/i/fettigruppe3.jpg/I also have several female pet-mice, one male dsungarian dwarf hamster and one female syrian goldhamster.
