@ patafweefwee: You didn't happen to get said gerbil at a pet store, did you? I'm not criticizing pet stores, but they often wind up holding their gerbils for some time...your gerbil might be older than you think.

No I got them from my teacher at school but I have a feeling that it was dehydration bcuz we gave him a bowl of water instead of the cage spout things and he drank almost all of it then we fed him quite a bit of food as well and he perked back up and is fine now. I think he got so dehydrated that his organs were starting to shut down.

This has happened to two gerbils I have owned. Both were upwards of 2-1/2, and both ended up having abdominal tumors. They're eyes had been sealed for the last two days of their lives, and they would squeak if I tried to pick them up. I'm glad your gerbil is okay. XX
