Whe I had "bangers" I wrapped a blaket around the outside of their cage at night so It would be muffled they could bang away and it did not bother me one bit.

Did the blanket make that much a difference?

Ahh, that's true, kinda like when you scream into your pillow, the material blocks a lot of sound. You should try it out, Manix.

Did the blanket make that much a difference? Actually it did. If the glass is preasured with something such as a wrapped blanket it won't vibrate quite so freely which causes the noice to echo in the tank. Kathy

Ur not alone with the mess all over the floor! I helped my friend clean her glass tank and we practically covered her room in gerbil bedding!!!!!!

Sounds like my room when I clean out my cages! The 20-long tanks are kind of heavy and awkward so I spill bedding all over the floor and then frustrate my mom 'cuz I trail it all over the apartment!

Shop vacs are wonderful things. How could I ever have thought I couldn't make room for the little wonder. Not only did it rescue me from the mountians if gerbil bedding I was once buried under, but that wet/dry option is a little life saver also. I've been trying to set up a DIY CO2 system on my 20 gallon aquarium this weekend. I made the mistake of leaving some tubing hanging out of the tank while I reworked a seal. In this short time period, nearly 2 1/2 gallons of water drained out. The shop vac made short work of it and nearly sucked up the entire amount! I suppose I still have a 1/2 gallon in the carpet...but beggers can't be choosers. Yay for shop vacs!

A piece of box cardboard stuck behind whatever bangs will deaden the noise. Make it as tall as the tank wall, tape it only at the top with clear package tape (it leaves less adhesive on surfaces than duct tape or the package tape with the fibers in it) and put the bottle or whatever in front of it. The thing they're banging will pretty much hold the cardboard in place, and if they chew it apart, it's easy to replace.
