Hi, Thanks for great info. I want to set-up a desert tank for my gerbils. Can this be used in a permanent tank ?

Don't see why not! I used a rather large plastic storage bin for my girls sand playground and they like it! ;D

Yeah! Ha ha! This is my 2nd?... 3rd day I think! But my mom is starting to get a little nicer about this project. I asked her once she said "maybe... Lets see how much more you learn before I let you off on your own!" So she is gaining my trust and I'm gaining hers. ~~Shelby

I'd say add another coat of pva, then the sand while still wet, leave to dry, then turn upside down to, remove the excess.
