Hey Everyone,
I am writing an article for my presentation for the gerbil show in New Hampshire. I am doing a bit of research on how people deal with the death of their gerbils or other pets. In this article I have discussed how I deal with it but I was wondering if any of you would be willing to share with me how you cope with it and what special things you do to commemorate their memories.
I would like to include your examples in my article if you are willing. If you want to share with me this information feel free to leave a comment or pm me and include whether or not it is ok to include this in my article on my site. ... I would love to share the article with all of you once it is completed. Thanks for your time!
Your Friend and gerbil rehabber,
Leslie

When fox died I buried her out my back garden in her wooden house that I bought the day before I brought her home. I also gathered all the pictures and videos I have of her and her sister and made a short video.
Apart from that i just think back at all the good memories we had and how i gave her the best life possible.

That is a wonderful way to commemorate her life. Do you mind if I include this in my article? If you don't want me to use it I will understand.
Little Fox is beautiful by the way and I know you gave her a wonderful life. You should be proud.

We have buried all the gerbils we have lost in flower pots, in a little box together with some of their favourite treats and a little bit of toilet paper role. For Angel I also got a little stone heart with wings to put next to her plant, and painted stones (similar to the colours of their fur) with their names painted on in Chinese symbols for Chandler and Bugs. I haven't found anything suitable for the others yet, but keep looking. Whenever I water the plants I still talk to them all.

I've always buried mine in my backyard, in a corner of my garden (fenced off). I paint slates with names, birth and death dates, and coat them with a waterproof sealer. Sometimes I paint a small message too. The gerbies are wrapped in colorful fabric with a chew toy and some seeds.
I often go out there and think about every gerbil I've had who's passed, and their best qualities. I also close my eyes and imagine meeting them again and giving them treats and cuddles.

I lost my first gerbil earlier this year and I've placed her in a plant pot (Cinnamon helped me come to this decision). I also lost 2 dogs in the past year, Sid & Flo, they were large breed dogs and I could not bury them so the vet took care of things. I found it difficult being parted from their bodies (they were old dogs 12 and 14). I am going to plant a rose bush in their memory. I have both of their collars under my pillow but slowly their smell is fading from them. I can still close my eyes though & imagine the feel of their coat. Losing pets is so hard.

in my life I have lost 2 cats who are still very dear to my heart, Garfield (who much like his namesake was fat, orange, and loved Italian) and Nathan, my big grey puffball. both are buried in the field behind my grandparents house with their favorite treats and a toy in what has become the pet cemetery. I still have a fur clump from each of them and a few of their favorite toys that I take out and remember the fun times we had with and pictures. Also buried there are 6 Beta fish that I had when I was growing up. Victor, Crimson, Sampson, Banner, Snoopy, and the Red Baron were all buried in jewelry boxes along side Garfield with Nathan buried on the other side of the holly bush that was planted to mark where my mom's childhood dog is buried. whenever I am at my grandparents I go out and sit with them for a while just remembering.
