Hello all. It's been a long time since I've posted because I've really had no problems as of late. However, I am sad to say that Lucy passed away last night. I never thought I'd be this sad to see my gerbils pass away. So now I have two questions:
1. Lucy was looking very greasy and not very active for a day or so, but I really noticed that something was wrong last night. I had to transport the girls from my boyfriend's house to mine (I was away for a month) and I put the air conditioning on and made sure they were secure. It was about 45 minute trip, and for the most part they cuddled the whole way. We got to the new house and I put them down and we all went for dinner. I came back and Lucy was just kinda sitting there while Penny ran around. I picked her up and she was very limp and she peed all over my hands, which is very unusual. She then kind of spasmed a bit (like when they stretch out really long), so I put her back in with Penny. After a while she kept twitching and spasming... then I had to leave and my dad said she was bleeding out of her mouth and lying on her back quite stiff. I'm just wondering if something I did caused this (I've been stressing about that all night), or if maybe the stress of the move just pushed her over the edge? Does anyone know what the spasms were (heart attack, stroke, seizures)? And what was with the bleeding?
2. What do I do now to keep Penny occupied? I have a couple cardboard boxes in there, she gets toilet paper and paper towel rolls on a regular basis, and I'm going to go out tonight and buy her some new toys from the pet store. Is there anything else I can do? I feel horrible because Penny always had Lucy to wrestle with, sleep with, dig with, etc., and now she has nothing. I'm really really upset right now and all I want to do is help her.
Any help you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated.
