This is my late gerbil Snowflake. I have another gerbil called Blizzard who is Snowflakes sister. Blizzard is still alive, thanks god. I chose Snowflakes name because she was so white, she looked like a little pile of snow. I chose Blizzard's name because she had greyinsh patches on her white fur and reminded me of a massive Blizzard with trees in it. Snowflake and Blizzard are/were my first pets. This thread is for you to discuss what your gerbil(s) name is, and why you chose it. It would help a lot if you added a photo as well. The little child in the gif is me and the gerbil was Snowflake. Sadly, I had no pictures of Blizzard but this will do. I couldn't find a picture of me with the gerbils', but I had a gif of Snowflake and me. From the new member, Aaina Attachments:

Mine has nothing to do with their colours! When I got them, I started playing with them before I named them. The first one I picked up curled up in my hand and looked really shy. He was really sweet too. I once gave him a sunflower seed and when peeling it, somehow pushed the skin from it into a corner of the cage, so it looked really neat. Then I don't know why, but I thought of Theodore from Alvin and the Chipmunks, but I thought Theo sounded better. One named, two to go! I picked up the next one and he straight away bit me! I held him still though and he scratched and scratched until my fingers started bleeding. I opened my hands to put him back, and he suddenly dived out and hid under the sofa. What a brilliant way to greet me. Then I thought Leo sounded a bit mischievous, and called him Leo. The next one was an absolute angel, and couldn't think of a name for him, so decided to just use a rhyming name, Rio.

Wow! Sounds like your gerbils were fun when they first met you! Didn't you get worried when Leo hid under the sofa? Whenever me and Blizzard play, (I would say Snowflake but you know she passed,) she would try and go under my wardrobe, and lots of times she actually managed to get out of my reach and go under the closet! It scares me to death and i have to get her pumpkin seeds out to get her to come out! I've had her for a year, three months and five days but I still get worried! Anyways, thank you so much for writing on this thread!

Remy was named after the Rat in Ratatouille (the film.) I loved the film and the character Remy so much, me and my OH went out to buy gerbils the next day, and I wanted my own little Remy! And Nibbles was named because he nibbles everything -Bit obvious that one! lol Remy and Nibbles had a litter, and we kept two of the pups. We named our little CP boy after Muhammad Ali, as he was incredibly poorly at 3 weeks with an RI, and severely underweight compared to his siblings. We were determined to do our best for him and make sure he survived. It was really hard, but he past the 3 weeks mark, so he was named 'Ali', because he was incredibly strong and a little fighter. -Like my OH's favourite boxer; Heavyweight Champion Muhammad Ali. We named Florence because she helped nurse Ali back to good health when he was in the tank with her. She kept him warm and groomed him (they are the only 2 pups we kept from our litter) And generally looked out for him, so we named her Florence after Nurse Florence Nightingale Misty is our latest addition, and she got her name because of her colouring. I was sat in awe looking at how beautiful her coat colouring was, the night we brought her home, and I turned to my OH and said 'She looks Misty', and it stuck

=) I'm a big fan of Doctor Who, so I named all mine after characters from the show. My original gerbils were Rory (after Rory Williams, my fave DW character) and Jack (after Captain Jack Harkness, another beloved character.) Unfortunately, Rory died almost right away, So I got a third gerbil whom I named Eleven (after the Eleventh Doctor, played by Matt Smith, who is my favorite Doctor). Then a couple months later, Jack died of liver failure. So, I decided to trade Eleven back to the breeder and get a pair of pups so that I can have a fresh start. Haven't met them yet, so I'm not sure what their names would be, but I'm thinking of switching to a Star Trek theme. (I've already used the best Dr Who names =( ) Eleven: Jack: Rory (this crummy photo is all i got of him he was a dark eyed honey and hes on top of Jack):

I got my first gerbils a while ago (2009). Since I'm a Pokémon fan, I named two of them after characters from the first few seasons of the anime. One of the only two pictures I got of Ash: Misty: And then there's their sis, Flower, who's name has no link whatsoever to her siblings: I'll need to find better pictures of Flower and Misty... Anyway, I then decided to get two more for my brother's birthday, since he was in love with these funny lil' rodents. He wanted to go with a space-theme, so we then welcomed Starry, a Siamese, and his slate pied brother, Comet, into our lives. I don't have any pictures of them on hand at the moment, but I'll try to remember to add some in later. Comet and Misty had four pups, and as we're (my brother and I) into Marvel, we named them Thor (REW), Loki (Black Spotted), Bucky (Black Self), and Steve (Slate Self). I don't have any pictures of Bucky or Steve, unfortunately, but I'll add Loki and Thor in eventually. Later, I added Natasha Romanoff ('Rosie') into my kennel, and she's a pretty lil' Agouti who carries an amazing amount of recessives. She's one of my breeders, her mate's Loki. I also have Rosie and Loki's pups now, mostly named after Rise of the Guardians/ Guardians of Childhood characters: Pitch the male black self, Jamie the male spotted grey agouti, Toothiana ('Tooth') the female spotted grey agouti, Jack Frost and Nightlight the male spotted ivory creams, and Quilla (named after one of my friend's characters in a book one of our other friends is writing) the female spotted agouti. Jeez, I type a lot... I'll try to get some nice photos up eventually.

Fang was named by the staff at P@H after he drew blood from several of them, haha! I know I could have changed it, but I think it adds to his character! I also think it's quite funny, since he looks so sweet and innocent! It's a bit like when people name their rottweiler "Fluffy", or their goldfish "Jaws" lol. Here he is, looking a far cry from "aggressive"!

I have named my gerbils after Homestuck characters.
Gamzee, slate pied, and Karkat, spotted siamese, are brothers. Dave, REW, and John, black spotted, are brothers. Rose, argente golden, and Jade, agouti, are sisters. I used to have Kanaya, grey agouti; Vriska, light CP grey agouti; Feferi, light CP dark-eyed honey; Eridan, polar fox; and Sollux, light yellow fox (all of them were from the same litter). I also had Aradia, light red fox, who I paired with Sollux after Eridan died. (She was my most recent death, sadly, and I have my reasons to believe it was an internal tumor.)

I named mine Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades I wanted to give them big epic names so what's better than three Greek god who were brothers. Zeus is white and he's the god of the sky, Poseidon is Brown and he's the god of the sea and Hades a dark charcoal and he's the god of the underworld.

Yes, I was really worried because Shroom (my sister, hehe) pushed the sofa and ran over his tail, but it was just the end of it so he got out straight away. He ran out then attempted to bite her leg.

i went to P@H to get my OH his first pets, we decided on russian dwalf hamsters and choose the names Jack Daniels and Smirnoff. when we got to P@H we spotted 2 gerbils and they seemed really interesting so we thought about it and done some research on our phones and brought them instead of the hamsters, however we couldnt think of other names so they became JD and Smirney. when Smirney died we adopted another from P@H. when we got him his name was "moe" which i hated lol we played along with Ezio (from assassins creed) due to the little white "cape" lol. that name became annoying after an hour, so we decided to switch to another alcoholic name and settled on Perry Perry and JD are in my signature, unfortunately we didnt get any good pics of smirney before he died

My son names our pets. When he got his first gerbil he was almost 4 years old and he named it Harry. Well 5 years later when Harry passed, we got 4 new gerbils which he definitely wanted to call one Harry in memory of his other gerbil. And then decided on Larry, Perry and Tom for the other 3. Well he couldn't seem to remember Tom and kept calling him Jerry, so Jerry stuck So now we have Harry, Perry, Larry and Jerry + the 3 little babies who he is still thinking up names for. (I am assuming we will see more "arry" names lol)
