thanks!!! i think she has eaten one baby she had it in a seperate bit of the cage and abandoned it then went back and had her in her mouth. do they carry like that?

Yes, that's how they carry them(like kittens and puppies). As she gives birth, she may seem to neglect them. But she'll be fine.
But if she only has one, I'd try not to get too attached.. a mother cannot usually make enough milk for one baby.

yeah, mom carries her babies in her mouth. SOmetimes it looks brutial, but usually it's worse than it looks.

there are 3 or 4 now, shes just abandoned them but she keeps checking them

That's normal. She will seem to ignore them for an hour or two. She should settle down shortly. Check the babies for milk beans in.. about 45 minutes or so. They will have white spots in their belly-- that's their stomach.
