For those of you with more than one cage of gerbils, do you share toys between them? Like when you switch up their habitats, do you put one wheel in the other's cage? Also, can the cages of males and females be in the same vacinity, or will the smell drive them crazy?

I have three cages of gerbils (a pair in each). I think that its fine to share toys between cages. . . though you might want to wash them first just to be safe. (unless its wood of course) As far as males and females, yes. I have five girls and one lone fellow and as far as I can tell there are no issues. The only time cage 1 gerbils notice the cage 2 gerbils is when cage 2 start thumping because something scared them. Otherwise, nobody seems to mind their neighbors.  |

i have two tanks with boys and i share the wheel and roll around balls between them just giving a good wash first and havent had any problems. i've never had females so i cant help with your other question
