I have two male gerbils in a tank with a mesh lid. I have recentally been getting ants in that room. What should I do? I have hay for them that may have been left slightly open by my sister. Please awnser. I am going to sweep but what else can I do.

If they are just 'temporary' ants from the hay, I assume that as long as they haven't set your tank up as a 'route' then they won't be back?
If you think your tank is now on a route, then you could try blocking the route and then trying to find out where they are going - and if it is a source of food - get rid of it (or put a source of food somewhere else temporarily). Ants often change their routes looking for food and they leave messages on that route so all the other ants know where to go, so washing the whole route with a standard vinegar mix could well confuse them all and wash away the track?
I don't know exactly how their tracks work - but if someone does know - or has got rid of ants a different way - please chip in...
