Many seeds are safe for them to eat. This is the bulk of what they'd be eating in the wild. Some examples of safe seeds are niger, perilla, dill, rape, sesame, grass (without pesticide or bird poison etc), pumpkin, sunflower, buckwheat, quinoa, flax, hemp, chia, canary, safflower, millet, fennel, barley, amaranth, spelt, and the list goes on!

Hey there! Also, most small animal mixes you can get in a pet store are safe for them as well.
Brown's Tropical Carnival is a really good mix but it is heavy on the sunflower and pumpkin seeds. Just pick most of those out when you go to feed your gerbils and keep them in a Ziploc sandwich bag for treats and this will keep them from getting too rollie polie!
Happy Gerbil-ing!
