I have a quick question for those more experienced than I!
My little pup I’m introducing to my adult soon is about 7-8 weeks old. She poos a lot and eats a lot, is that usual for little ones?
She also has learned to burrow a little bit and make her own little nest in a ceramic jug I put on its side for her, making a little ‘door’ with bedding. She hasn’t shown any signs of chewing cardboard tubes yet though. Are her teeth too small or do you think she needs to learn this from my adult?

Hi there! All gerbils poop and eat a lot so that is normal. She should be able to chew cardboard. When mine were 5 weeks they were already destroying it.

I don't think my pups started chewing cardboard more than tentatively until something like 8-9 weeks. Maybe they were late bloomers...but I wouldn't start worrying about that just yet.

My new gerbils didn't really start chewing cardboard properly until about 8 weeks. Before that they would just bite it and then look confused.

Thanks for your posts. My girl is obviously a bit tentative when it comes to cardboard! Hopefully she’ll get the idea soon.
