" Woman attempts to smuggle 24 gerbils into Taiwan under her skirt" "Border patrol stopped the woman in Kinmen on Friday after they discovered her walking awkwardly and wearing a puffy skirt that was an 'abnormal size.'"
Sadly, "later on in the day, the animals were euthanised, in accordance with regulations, according to Taiwan News."
From the condition those gerbils in the pictures, maybe the smuggler deserved something similar.

I.. just.. do NOT get the mindset of people majority of the time. I really don't. Not only in regards to our treatment of each other, but especially towards animals.
I've a friend in Canada, and she either tells me or sends me links of advertisements she finds about gerbils being sold and they are just in horrendous conditions
One advertisement is in Calgary I believe, two gerbils in a small hamster cage, they were male/female -- had three litters back to back before they bothered to do anything. Then transferred the litters by Birthdate into, what looked like, small width but tall trash cans with barely any bedding. They were advertising them for sale. But if they separated them by birthdate and not by sex, then you can bet the females will end up all inbred soon and the "owner" not telling those that purchase from them either. My friend sent me where the advertisement is:: https//www.kijiji.ca/o-profile/1012222226 The Ad IDS are: 1434973692 and 1430615374 I don't have the whole link, sorry. I hope they know to separate the male and female or they will just continue to have babies out of control.
She actually went to another advertisement, (not sure where this one was in Canada), and it was a lady who had like a 2ft PIT dug out in her backyard that she kept gerbils in! Depending on the weather depended on if she covered the top of the pit with hefty chicken mesh or a wooden plank if it rained. This woman advertised as a breeder and took her outside, opened the pit, stepped into it and told her to basically choose what she wanted, WHILE, plucking up any gerbils that were dead and tossing them into a metal trash can. My friend was absolutely horrified and said many of them looked sick with matted fur and just.. miserable.
What's even more sad about this is.. there are no regulations or laws in keeping small animals or reptiles other than -- as long as they are not wallowing in a swamp of their own filth, and have access to food and water, people can have as many of these animals as they want, keep them how they want, and nothing can be done.
Its so very tragic and it makes me just want to strangle these people.

You know when you hear things and your are just like “What, why? What is the reasoning behind this?” This is one of those things.
