A few days ago I was handling my gerbils and noticed Sevy's eye was a little shut almost like she couldn't open it fully. I put them back in the cage and let them run around a bit. 10 minutes later when I next got a good view of her eye it looked back to normal. Presuming it was nothing and she'd just got a bit of aspen stuck in it or something I left it and didn't worry. I've been observing it for a few days now and both eyes have seemed clear and look completely normal. Today I was handling her again and noticed a little bit of what almost looked like brown sleep or gunk in the corner of her eye. Again this was gone a few minutes later and her eye has seemed completely clear and back to normal since. She hasn't shown any signs of it irritating her, she hasn't been rubbing at it or anything like that. Do you think this is anything to worry about? any suggestions about what it could be? do you think I should take her to the vets?

she won't need the vets, it is normal for this to happen but if it does look red, swollen or a lot of discharge, then it will need to get checked.
