You know about Milky already, but I want to tell you that the gerbil in my profile picture, Ash, is going to die soon. He is still eating, he is drinking more and his eyes keep producing red crusts and getting stuck. He hasn't been diagnosed with it, but we are sure the bump on his side that I mentioned is a tumour. I asked my parents whether they think he'll make it to his third anniversary/Milky's first death anniversary. My dad said he might, but my mum said he might not. We took out his ladder for his support. He has had a good life here.
UPDATE: My dad said he might die at the weekend.

so sorry to hear, just keep him eating/drinking and give him attention, it is hard once they get ill. Have you thought about getting Ash (he is beautiful) to the vets? the bump may be an abscess that could be treated with antibiotics? vets will see pets with illnesses. Take care, Tammy

We suspected he had a kidney infection, but the lump didn't go away. I'm updating today because he was put down about 15 minutes ago. He was declining quickly and even though we had his cage cleaned last night, he hadn't been out at all recently.

So sorry for the loss of Ash, it's so hard to say goodbye. As Catnut says, you know you did what you could for your little love. X
