I used to have an old pair of gerbils I cared for for two years, and one of them passed away. I'm now left with Cream, the older of pair, and I'm not sure how well she'll handle without her friend. It's extremely hard to find gerbils in area atm though... I don't see any listings, except for a pair of male gerbils. I won't put opposite genders in the same enclosure. It's just, is it worth it to find or buy my girl an elderly gerbil to keep company, or should I just let it be since I'm not sure how long she has left?
I don't know what to do. I'll really miss Mocha, but Ik how stressed Cream is going to get without her.

I am in nearly the same position. I have a single 1 year old girl whose older partner died, and now I’m struggling to find an appropriate partner. I also can only find pairs or males for adoption. It’s very difficult. I empathise.

Seeing as no one has answered.... I'm no expert, so what I'm about to say is just what I've read from multiple websites and the more experienced Gerbil keepers here, but it seems the consensus is that once a Gerbil gets over about 2.5-3yrs old it's not worth stressing them out trying to re-pair them (Swiss animal welfare Gerbil handbook says less than 3yrs old), it is often suggested to play with it more. Perhaps more experienced keepers will chime in now .
londongerbils Have you had any luck finding one? They're nr Croydon btw. [edit] Never mind, I saw you replied here regarding it.
