Anybody knows if it is safe to use "Natural Pet Ultracoat Dry Shampoo for Small Animals" on gerbils? Is it toxic for the gerbils if they ingest it? Will it irritate their respiratory systems/eyes?
The ingredients stated are: [ Talcum, Kaolin, Zinc Oxide, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Allantoin, Nano Silver and Flora Fragrance.] source: linkI have an old gerbil that can no longer effectively groom himself, and pees all over himself. He doesn't sand-bath any more (limp on one side can't do barrel-rolls). I wish to help him clean his undersides...

i wouldn't use it, have you just tried to use a mild baby soap-liquid kind, with water, that may be safer if water isn't enough? would have to say non-toxic on it.

Any ingredients that I should be wary about (for gerbils) if I go get some baby soap? I will have to rinse the liquid soap off the gerbil, don't I? Is there a concern if the gerbil gets too wet on his bottom-half/undersides?
I dun suppose I can use hairdryer to dry him due to the heat?

Depending on the reason and area for washing him - I would consider a sand bath for drying them off afterwards and perhaps a heated section of the enclosure like a reptile heat mat. I had to wash (well more soak) and old mans feet recently, and all his tummy got wet. I towel dried him as best I could then allowed him to dry in a heated bed department.
He looked terrible at the time, but he dried off just fine in quite a short time.
