I am in the procces of making my own mix and the analysis is about
14.6% protein
6.4% fat
8.6% fiber
is this ok? or should i look for other things to put in the mix? I would also be adding oats as a 1/4 of the mix so the fiber would go up quite a bit.

There is a percentage recommendation on here somewhere from the Admins - just can't remember exactly where it is right now? Have a look around in FAQs and pinned posts?
And if you are adding 1/4 oats for sure too - then add that into your %age breakdown in numbers before you can compare the base levels.
Oats are a great source of protein too - so that will be going up as well - dropping the fat.
So yes, re-do your maths including the oats, then compare to the article on here somewhere? I'm thinking it was 12% protein and 6-8% fat - so those are already going to be different to your mix?
Depends on what you are after too from your diet. Is it just maintenance for pets, for very active, breeding or senior gerbils - or it is trying to prevent tooth or organ damage in old age? I really think there are opportunities to rethink our gerbil food if you are a breeder for example.

No I’m not a breeder Its just for my group of boys. I found the protein and fat. I think it was 12-14% protein and 6-8% fat. But I couldn’t find the fiber recommendation. How would I calculate the oats as I was using a calculator that you put in the guaranteed analysis of each food and the percentage of the overall mix that it would be.

I've never used a calculator like that.
I would have assumed you do a really big sum that percentages out all the ingredients percentages?
Not sure why the calculator you used to get your original figure won't let you add in the oat calculation too - surely it is the same principle of fractions?
Or if you know the oats alone - you could reduce the amounts you have already to 3/4 and then add on the 1/4 of oats and re percentage between them?

Ok i figured it out with 1/4 oats its 17.64% protein, 9.93% fat and 11.08% fiber so I took out some oats and changed out one of the mixes now it's at 15.7% protein 8.6% fat and 10.5% fiber though I may experiment more and see if I can get the protein a bit lower and the fiber a bit higher.

Great work (I'm not too hot on math).
Although, this is just your starter base mix - now the fun starts - you need to feed it and record stuff!
Firstly you need to make sure that they eat the majority of it all the time (maybe a little weigh and seive experiment coming up there).
Then you need to honestly look at your average amount and types of supplementary foods over say a two month period (another experiment coming up) and see if any of the nutrients from them should be factored in too. Say you find you always give A and B every day/every other day and they are both turn out to be high in protein/fat/other - you need to adjust.
I must say, I have never really done this with the foods I feed all the time - so perhaps I will do the same experiments myself with a couple of my critters and see what it throws up?
I feel a clipboard is required!!!
