Ah yea, I think we call them dremels in our trade (I don't have one, so not sure). Just thinking what you might use a burr for, ...jewellery? It's not dentistry, zeeeee

Elmfield Vets (Ian Batten) - South Croydon - www.elmfieldvets.co.uk/Rocket saw this vet today as she had lost some weight, has been drinking more, and is hiding away a lot. I was really happy with how thorough he was. The vet seemed to have a good basic knowledge of gerbils and their health issues. He is not a gerbil specialist but told me he liaises with vets around the country which gave me confidence. A lot of other vets will tell you they know a lot about gerbils when they really don't - I appreciate the openness to admit gaps in knowledge. In the absence of a gerbil specialist vet, one willing to learn and listen is the next best thing. This is an "old-fashioned" type of practice owned by a single vet, which I liked as the practice I used to see seemed to have a fast turnover of vets and even if one vet seemed good, you could never rely on them still being there when you next needed them. PS The front page of the website is broken as it doesn't link to the other pages. Click here to see the rest of the website. I think the website is a bit odd for a veterinary surgery but glad I went with them anyway. (Rocket is ok. She lost 10g over a couple of weeks which gave me a fright but now seems to be regaining it. The vet could find no evidence of tumours or anything else sinister going on, and said that she looked in good condition, which I agree with, though she is thinner than she was. The plan now is to watch and wait).

Good to hear about the vet, I hope rocket's weight stabilises and she gets back to her normal self .

I used Great Western Exotics in Swindon recently and they were amazing.

I'm around 50 minutes to an hour from Swindon, I wish I was closer! I've been looking for an exotic vet near me for a while but I think that's the closest
