I've had 2 female gerbils for a while who have been independent and fight with any mates I introduce them to. I went through all the necessary procedures and was very patient but they simply immediately battle to extreme levels. Its fine unless I miss it. The black one (ripley) actually got into a fight with her original mate i purchased her with for no reason out of the blue. She very nearly ended her life.
At this point my two females seem happy but bored. Would I be able to introduce babies to them? Or males? They are likely at least a year and a half at this point (assuming the timestamp on their age was semi accurate when I got them). Perhaps they wont even succeed in breeding? I know females are tough but they smell better and personally I find them have more bubbly personalities.

Hello - and welcome to the forum.
Splitting together females can be a right pain for sure so it is best to find out what you have tried first and we can go from there with each one.
So firstly can you let us know their history of intros - who did you try them with, how you tried it and for how long. Sometimes the way you do a split and who with can make all the difference.
Also, give us an idea of their characters and why you think they are bored - what are they doing or not doing that has you concerned. Also things you have tried to prevent their boredom so we know what else to suggest without repeating all the same stuff.
Finally, gerbils are supposed to be social group animals - so breeding from females who don't want that community wouldn't be advised. However, as incorrect or rushed intros will nearly always cause gerbils to fight - we can't say that your two are both 'bad eggs' for sure until we know them a bit better.
I have had gerbils fight with clan-mates and then go on to make friends for life with another gerbil who may also have fought with THEIR clan-mate too. I have even had a very long lived gerbil who lived happily with 3 other sequential friends each time a tank mate died.
Anyway - that's a lot of questions - but perhaps start the new thread for each female including their info - and then we can follow it through with them individually - as what works for one might not work for the other!!!
Or just add it all on to this same one here if you prefer and we'll use their names clearly in the posts each time.
Look forward to getting to the bottom of it all...

Hey slave1 - hope you are still there and can give us an update on things for your girls? There is always something new to do or try with gerbils - so hopefully, when you pop back on the forum, you can give us an update.
