this Tuesday, the gerbils have (finally) moved house. We found a cage on ebay that was being sold with all the Rodipet accessories, and given that we were going to be near the sellers house that Tuesday (no deliveries), it could only be fate... The gerbils also figured out how to use their water bottle immediately (kept the bowl in as a safety net), they seemed really at home as soon as they were in and were eating, drinking, running... also no territorial behaviours so far, fingers crossed all is well. imgur.com/a/OSqwXhy

That's an amazing find! Those cages aren't manufactured anymore and you can only find the 100cm version left on Amazon (which I've just bought).
If you ever have taller toys or higher bedding, you will need to attach mesh to the inside of the lid as it's wooden and has wide gaps.

Thanks for the advice! I am going to mesh the lid this weekend anyway, as we sometimes get mice and I'd like to be sure they're safe.

lol yes they did dig out all the bedding, and then typically peed were there was none... luckily it had been plastikoted already.

Btw, since I corked lined and plastikoted my wheel, my babies now pee on the wheel base frame! (it's ally tubing)

How have they been getting on in their new cage? Still enjoying it? Btw, have the vent holes on the side allowed any bedding to escape? Or been chewable by your Gerbils? And is your cage the 95x55x49cm (internal sizes) medium version or large (115x49x75, internal I guess?)? Just curious .

They still love their cage, they've been sprinting back and forth and messing around - they love playing tricks with me as well :)
The holes don't allow much bedding to escape, but you do get the occasional scattering on the floor if they've been doing a lot of kicking up bedding by the holes.
I have the large version of the cage ;)

I bought the medium version recently (the large is no longer available new unfortunately) and I'm going to glue acrylic sheets over the holes so I can fill the whole tank up, as it will also have a topper. gerbilord Do yours chew the wooden posts in the corners? I was worried about this so I glued aluminium corner profiles to the posts.

Its a shame the large is no longer stocked... maybe there wasn't enough demand?
I noticed once that they chewed the posts, but haven't seen any real damage to them (yet!) - of course my gerbils are focused on chewing *everything* so it'll take them a while to really get through it. (Its not their top priority)

gerbilord Cool that you got the large version .
