I've tried raisins but sultanas are not very available near me. Unfortunately everything I find is covered in sugar

How about carrots or dandelion leaves?

oh they hate carrots! with a passion they dig through the salad and fling the carrots across the cage. they were also uninterested in dandelion and most flowers I offered but I only offered the heads so maybe the leaves will be different

Lmao, I'd love to see a video of that! I haven't tried Dandelion flowers yet either, definitely worth trying the leaves.
How about Tomatoes?

Mine love carrots, but only cooked. Peas always go down well too.

Aren't tomatoes bad for them? I feel like we've had this convo before but don't remember. They love crunchy lettuce but I feel like buying lettuce would get expensive overtime. I'm looking for something dried maybe dried fruit would work but they didn't seem to like the apricot

my girls like: -peas -carrot -apple -small amounts of strawberry/cucumber (only very small bits because of high amounts of water which can cause diarrhea) -banana -sultanas
I haven't fed my gerbils tomato, but I think it's the same as cucumber and strawberry? You can give it to them, but in small amounts to ensure not too much water is taken in. Ask someone more experienced though, I don't know a whole lot about fresh foods for gerbils unfortunately!

I don't feed them to them so not sure. Unless someone says you can, I wouldn't just to be safe.

Hmm, I'm not sure about Strawberry leaves etc, I think they're ok, but got nothing solid offhand. I do know though that Tomato plants are apparently a member of the nightshade family, and that's why their leaves and fruit tops are poisonous. This is not applicable to Strawberry plants as they're a member of the rose family!

Strawberry leaves are ok and mine love them. I would assume, since the leaves are ok, that the tops are too.

Yes the tops are safe and I’ve fed them often - my gerbees love them :)
