Has anyone made gerbil food from scratch? I am just wondering because I just made some homemade mix and my gerbils seem to love it.

Yes, loads of people make their own mixes - search on this topic to find some of them. There is quite a selection.
Do share your own recipe if it is going down well for yours - it is always nice to look at which ingredients people prefer.

I would love to know, too. I would like to make my own mix for Rolo soon!

hmm... this is quite a big ask, but would anyone be able to tell me where you can get some of these things? I've been looking on Amazon but haven't had much luck! Or maybe if you find them there, links would be great

Or maybe if you find them there, links would be great I found most of my ingredients at a local farmers market in their bulk section. If found most of my ingredients there. I also found some things at Whole Foods like the flax seeds and the whole wheat pasta and then the rest I found at a local bread store that sold grains for bread.

I used parts of the recipe Pipsqueak posted but I couldn't find all the the supplies I needed. Instead I use most of the ingredients in the video and I add a store bought gerbils food to my mix to make sure that my gerbils have a complete diet.

Is making food cheaper than buying? I know it’s healthier

I don't think it's cheaper. I spent around $60 (around 47 pounds) on the food I made. Unless you can find a cheap source of ingredients then it will be expensive. However if you have had bad luck with store bought food in the past it will be worth the money to make the food yourself.

Yes, it is more expensive but very good because you know what's IN the food and have the right amounts if made correctly

I'd just like to make two recommendations here firstly the fins and whiskers channel of pipsqueaks is great! Definatley check her vids out I'm a new gerbil owner and love her videos. Secondly I have just ordered most of the ingredients in her mix from ratrations website. Brilliant website they do small amounts so when her video says 30g you can order 100g of something and it costs about 50p! They also do loads of dried forage and many other things!
I am waiting for my order to be delivered and I'm making this mix I can't wait! let my gerbs try lentils tonight they got so excited! Gonna go bonkers for the complete mix!

pipsqueak theahow is everyone liking this food mix? I'm going to give this a try. I have a dumb question, the fennel is just normal fennel seeds that we use in cooking, right?
