My gerbils aren't fans of nuts. It seems to be a roll of the dice if they'll accept bits of nuts that I offer them (they seem to particularly not care for hazelnuts).
I just bought a small bag of in-shell peanuts for them and gave them each one. They each tore away into their hiding spots. I saw one of the boys under a platform gnawing away, and I noticed that one of the nutmeats was sitting on the cage floor while he kept chewing at the shell. He soon freed the second nut, sniffed it for a few moments, and went back to shredding the shell.

Mine aren't so keen on peanuts but love any other kind of nut.

Like the title My boys can't seem to make their mind up, they did like almonds but don't now (maybe because their not so fresh? taste fine to me though!). They mostly like walnuts, and the few times I have given them hazel nuts they like them, that reminds me, thiers one in their cage I need to crack.... Not tried other nuts yet.
