Rolo always climbed on my shoulders! I'm yet to find if Pippa and Mali will...
It's good that the guy at your work is doing that job though. I would probably be hesitant to go for a job like that if I had Tourettes, but it's good that he's doing what he's good at despite his tics, which could definitely stop some people.

Snorting and sniffing are definitely vocal tics and have you asked him if he thinks he has it or if he has been diagnosed?

That would be quite a personal question to ask though if he has never mentioned it himself (possibly)?

He's never mentioned it, and I would never dare to ask as you never know what sort of response you'd get (yea, to personal for a casual acquaintance). I'd leave it for him to say something, although I doubt he will as I've been working their over 7yrs and he has never mentioned anything about it so far. We do chat about general things too.

Yeah, if you want to ask go for it, but I'd be scared if I were you too! I guess he probably wouldn't know when to bring it up. It isn't really something that people NEED to say either - he might just leave you to guess yourself.

I think you mis-read my post, as I said I would never dare to ask

No I wasn't saying that you wanted to ask sorry, I was meaning for anyone who wanted to ask if they weren't sure if someone did have Tourette's or not, they could. I meant you as plural (just for anyone really!). I didn't make that clear at all, sorry!

I mean it probably isn't a personal thing for him but it's kind of hard to ask and it might offend him if he doesn't have it so yeah...

A friend of mine was very ill recently - and they told us that their dr thought it was neurological as they had a facial tic.
My friend then told us that they were all panicked as what on earth was giving them a facial tic - was it serious? - and we all said - but you have ALWAYS had that facial tic - didn't you know? And they were like "NO - what does it look like, when do I do it??? Why didn't you tell me????" They couldn't believe it!

It could also be an Autism spectrum thing with the guy at work, Mark. My kids have repetitive movements, especially when they are stressed so it may not mean the person at work has Tourettes as other conditions can cause physical tics. It's just that Tourettes is the first one people think of. I'm trying not to laugh at Blake sniffing your ear. You obviously don't have a tasty ear - no potatoes growing behind them then! yuzername please don't stress yourself out trying to control things as it won't be doing you any good and you need to look after yourself as much as the gerbils. They will also pick up on your stress so they may be scared from that. Hopefully you got on ok in the playpen with Alfredo and Julio? I sit in our play area with my gerbils, I am doing this more at the moment with our new girls as holding them stresses them out. I also sit outside their enclosures on gerbil watch, especially if I've put something new in their tank. The latest thing that doesn't cost the earth is toilet rolls with seeds, oats and flowers stuck inside with flour and water and wrapped up like a pillow parcel. I can sit and watch them and chat to them whilst they're doing their gerbily things and still feel like I'm having some interaction, and they get used to listening to me ramble on. I recently found on rat rations a bonding scarf ratrations.co.uk/hammocksI had no idea it was even a thing until a couple of weeks ago. I've asked my stepdaughter to see if she can make me one. I'm not sure if this is something anyone in your family can have a go at? or if anyone on here knows of anywhere that sell them for less? My gerbils love being on my shoulders too. I was hoping that this could be a way of them going back and forth and that my chewy little Max can chomp the fleecy scarf and not my clothes. It may be an option for you with your shoulder gerbils without having to pick them up as they can go back and forth on their own that way. Although I do like Betty's idea of a bum bag/fanny pack as it's probably a much cheaper option and easy for you to access.
