I want to let my gerbil run around the living room but he's gonna pee. Is there like gerbil diapers or something because I can clean up the poop but im screwed when he pees on the carpet (also if you invent gerbil diapers I want 50% royalties). Yeah just basically how do I stop the boys from peeing everywhere if I let them run around like they want to.

There’s no way to prevent a gerbil from doing their duty if they need to, and anything that you put on them they’ll be agitated with and want to scratch off so ‘gerbil diapers’ would not work. Could you lay towels on the floor so they soak up the pee? Or maybe have a sand bath out as gerbils usually like to use them as toilets...

That was half a joke but also an actual problem of mine I think I will try the sand bath thank you

Strangely, gerbils like to pee on smooth flat surfaces too, so if you have a spare small pane of glass (with no sharp edges), or an old plate (that's never going to be used for food again! lol), maybe that would work?
