I think I heard it was around 80-100 for male gerbils, but yeah I'm sure a little more would still be ok.

Reading the guide from this forum about weights, they say regular weights for females are 70-110 And for males it’s 80-120 (Adults) The thread is more than 10 years old (2007) so I don’t know how accurate it is, but it does say “regular” so if your gerbils are slightly less than 80 then you shouldn’t worry too much. But if there was a mahoosive difference then you might need to keep a close eye on them, do a full-over health check and see if that weight increases or decreases. (And if they were way over 120 then it might be worth feeding them less treats and giving them more exercise!) By the way, the thread is over here: gerbilforum.proboards.com/thread/11566/weigh-gerbil if you want a read through. ;)

Thanks gerbilord . I’m just going to keep weighing them regularly. And I’ve set aside some fatty treats that I feed to Shark when Chickens not watching. I’m not too worried about sharks weight as is though because it’s been consistent for 6 months and he’s really active and no other symptoms, but I definitely don’t want him losing weight. apparently chicken isn’t as close to the obesity line as I’d thought, but still keep an eye on him because it seems like he gained that weight pretty quickly, but he wasn’t on very good food before coming to live with me.

Hello,
We do scatter feed, but nonetheless have one skinny gerbil and one chubby one. The skinny one is elderly and sick, and I try to give him treats without Mr. Chubby getting any, but not always successfully. I don't know how much they weigh - I'll try to weigh them tonight.

Hi Andie,
That is the way it goes sometimes, and unfortunately there isn't much you can do. I would suggest not feeding the skinny one too many treats, if he is elderly and sick it might not do him much good. Is there some more fatty things in their diet like pumpkin/sunflower seeds? If there are you could take a few out of their main diet as that might be what your bigger gerbil is eating, but give a few to your skinnier one. Please don't give too many though! as long as a gerbil is healthy and you know that, how skinny it is doesn't really matter.
