Hi all, I am constantly trying to find the cheapest (while still being suitable) bedding for my critters - I've found a bedding called Lay-soft, I've never heard of it before and just wanted to know if its good or safe, and if anyone's tried it? It seems almost too good to be true - £11.99 for 25kg with 2.99 postage! :D www.equisupermarket.co.uk/p/laysoft-horse-bedding/25kgThanks.

It looks to me like it’s made up of wood shavings, which aren’t recommended due to it irritating gerbils’ eyes. I’d be interested what others say, I’ve not seen this before.

Yeah, I think I’m not going to order it after all, although it is cheap, it doesn’t give much info into if it’s kiln dried, what wood it is etc. Which makes me unsure about it. Plus I haven’t found any small animal owners who have used it (so far.) Luckily since posting I have found an aubiose supplier which will deliver to me all for £11 for 20kg inc shipping, which I don’t think is too bad, considering the eco shiv, when accounting for the shipping, is about £18 from burn hills and the aubiose on Amazon is about £20. I’ll stick to what I know is safe and good for now, and do a bit more digging into it for the future. There’s a good chance it’s perfectly safe but I’m always the one to worry about my fur babies. Thank you for linking that info, I’ll have a read through later with a cup of tea. And glad to hear you still like the ecoshiv! :)

Wow that is cheap, delivered! , a local animal supplies store to me charges £12, and I have to pick it up lol I decided to stop using Aubiose as it is quite dry, and doesn't seem to hold tunnels as well as Ecoshiv, or Hempbed for that matter, although that's not a problem if you mix it with enough hay etc.
Would be interesting to know more about the lay-soft, are you able to contact the manufacturers about it?
