Yes, Higgins can be fed alone as its nutritional values are suitable for gerbils.
Vegetables are good for them as well, especially the leafy vegetables and herbs. You might want to introduce fresh food slowly in case they aren't used to it. Higgins has a lot of dried fruit so perhaps don't feed fresh fruit very often if at all.

It comes down to personal preference really but for leafy veg I feed a piece the size of my hand or a bit smaller for each pair of gerbils, or for non-leafy veg, one or two pieces the size of my little finger nail for each gerbil. I feed spinach, kale, rocket (aka arugula), peas, beetroot (the fresh cooked type, not pickled in vinegar!), sweet/bell pepper (all colours), tomato (I feed the flesh only, not the gel or seeds, and none of the green parts), broccoli, celery leaves, cucumber. Also some herbs and plants from the garden, parsley, coriander (aka cilantro), lemon balm, thyme, strawberry and raspberry leaves, sunflower leaves, chamomile. There are many other things you can feed but research them first or ask here to make sure they're safe.
