This seller on ebay is selling off a bunch of aquarium stuff, including two 6ft tanks, a 7ft tank (I bought the other one! ), and an 8ft tank!! They're located in Burgess hill, for those interested. Much as I was tempted by the 8ft tank, I think the 7ft one is nuts enough as it is! . Anyway, it seems 2nd hand large tanks going for sale are a rarity, so I thought I'd post a heads up. If I can arrange the van, and a friend, I'll be picking my one up this weekend. Anyone want my 4ft tank? (120x50x50 cm, 14 mths old, NACD tank). I'm in west Surrey FYI. I want to see someone here buy the 8ft tank!

Wow! Those are massive. Too bad I don’t live anywhere near the UK and I certainly think my parents would not want an 8ft tank in their house for two gerbils. The amount hides and toys you could put in there would be endless.

Well, it's probably going to take quite some time, not least is doing something about all the stuff I've got stored atm where the 'new' tank will go! I hadn't planned to deal with all of it just yet. I also need to get a long coffee table for the new tank to go on. It could be months, I hadn't actually planned to get a new tank just yet, but I had to grab this rare (and relatively cheap!) opportunity! But before any of that I need to build a 2nd platform for the 2nd wheel to go on (for both the new and old tanks, they're the same height ).

How large is your current tank? I’m assuming one gerbil will be in the new one and the other in the old one? How would you decide which one gets that large tank and the other the smaller one?

4ft tank (120x50x50 cm, as per op ). And no they'll both be in the bigger tank, in a permanent split (I talked more about this in my declan thread).

The 8 foot one looks great, and the 8ft ×1.5ft× 1.5ft is only 1p at the moment! No space at the moment though:(

Make space! The 8x2.5x2.5 ft is now up to £102, still a bargain, but 6 days left to go on the auction.

Curious, auction has ended early, keen to shift it maybe! I saw it yesterday, it is a beast! lol So I got my tank then too, and although the condition of it is decent (just needs cleaning), the size didn't quite match their advert! (I only found out after I got it home). Length was -4" (not too bothered by that), height is -2", and most annoyingly width is -2" too!! Particularly annoying on the width as their stated size was 2" narrower than my current tank, which makes it 4" narrower! I'm not even sure I'll be able to get the platform in their as it's wider than the gap between the ledges! Grrr.. And whilst in theory I could return it (and maybe get the wider 6ft tank(s) they have), that would be a lot of extra time and grief, and another £26 fuel! So I'll stick with it, and I'm going to extend the height of the tank (by 4", to give them more bedding depth ), by making some kind of perspex frame (edges protected of course). But what a pain in the neck! I'm hoping I can get the current platform in by tilting it.......

That is a real pain, hope it gets sorted :/ but such huge cages!! Do you know how many gallons it is? Must be over 100, the detolf is 70 and is 5.6 ft (but fairly narrow). That's a really good amount of space for both your boys though!!

Turns out it is 7ft long after all (I messed that up!), but I was right about the width and height. Its volume is 89 imperial gallons, 107 US gallons (although that includes the width of the glass, which is 10mm). And yes, huge cages!
