Hi, I have two gerbils and my mom has to vacuum in their room. Are they scared of the vacuum, and if they are, will they think i’m a bad person with the vacuum?

We all have to vacuum - so I suppose it is just one of those things they get used to?
I try no to wake them up with the vacuum - but usually after me faffing in the room and/or them getting treats or fresh food - they are already awake and about - so the noise is expected I think.
My jirds are certainly annoyed by the sound of the vacuum - although not enough to make them go and hide or anything. They will just sit on their shelf with their ears right back, staring at me as if to say 'why would you do such a thing?*'
*give me food.

I didn't think my boys were bothered by it, but I caught Blake staring at me the other day (when I was vacuuming) with his ears pinned back, I turned the vacuum cleaner off and his ears came back up. He carried on his gerbling then, and didn't stop when I turned it back on, so for mine at least, they don't like the sound, but they don't seem to be scared of it.

Mine don't really mind it, in fact Pippa loves to watch me vacuum - but my boys definitely hated it (they'd go and cuddle in a big pile in their burrows!) So I would put them in a (safe) carrier case in another room while I did it.
