By the way, How did the vet told you to do? Did he tell you to clip them of or to polish them? yer he just used some rabbit molar clippers, they need to be something with a cutting edge as opposed to crushing. the vet is able to do it all himself, oz the gerbil just lays there like a 'dead un' when he does it. and although i can hold him quite well i really can't see his teeth at all until i use the other hand.

Okay, The vets here says that one shouldn't clip the teeth, it can make a fracture in the tooth that can go down to the gums and make the gums inflamed. I clipped Baileys teeth onces and I guess I was lucky because nothing happened... If I have to trim them one more time I'll try to polish it instead, but I think that it's much harder.

I had to clip Vic's teeth once, just his bottoms, as he had lost his top ones for some reason. He was super thin at the time. I 'squeezed' him, and wraped a paper towel around him tightly (just like when I clilp my kitty's nails) and then I held his head between my thumb and pointer finger. And to keep his lips away I held in a coated twist tie in his mouth, and held it between my fingers and his head. He pretty much played dead! I've not had to clip them since, and he's slowely gaining weight, and now he has ONE top tooth! Yay for him- it's really short, and crooked, but it's still there!

The vet told me to put a 1ml injectin/syringe (dunno the english word...) between his front teeth and molars to keep the moth open while as I polish them, By the way, Baileys tooth looks like it's starting to correct itself, I can see that he's been using it because it's not that flat as the other teeth, I guess that the top tooth is not quite in the oposit position to the lower tooth..
