One night, I see my gerbil awake but with only one eye open as if the other eye was stuck shut. What caused this and how to open her eye back again?

sometimes their eyelids just get stuck, usually they can open it but you can just use a piece of tissue or paper towel(small piece), wet it and it will open it, just don't pull on it, and it will open.

Update: that same gerbil recovered but it got it again in both eyes and that led to its death unfortunately

Sorry to hear that But I am puzzled, I don't see how the eyes being stuck shut led to her death, unless you mean she did something whilst she couldn't see? e.g fell off something.
