ibb.co/tL3BCyLibb.co/2sjLCgNHi, I want to add a little extension to my gerbil cage (see photos) using the top part of the original cage I bought (until I realised how tiny the cage was!) I haven’t got room for a big glass tank so I need to go upwards ! I was hoping someone could offer some help on how I can attach this to the cage (I’d need not to be permanent as I’ll need to be able to take it off to get the wheel/toys etc out to clean them. I have no idea how to do this ! Also - any ideas what I can put on the top on the ‘actual cage’ which will then become a floor in the extension as I don’t want the gerbils walking over bars ? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated ☺️

I would think you could cut pieces of wood to put down as floor. Just make sure you seal it to make it pee proof!

Yea use Plastikote (the brush paint version). As for how to attach it to the cage, how about folder/binder clips? (btw, I only chose that advert for the pic, I've no idea if the price is any good! ).

Ahhh thanks- that’s a good idea ! I’ve got some plastikote- I’ve ordered a sheet a birch plywood to put down - I’m hoping this is gerbil friendly wood ? As they will be able to get to it to chew as I’ll need to cut a hole in it so they can get into the ‘extension’ !!!

Hmm, whilst birch is gerbil friendly, plywoods are generally considered not because of the glue used to bond the wood layers. Unless the one you're looking at specifically states otherwise?
