The Trixie sand bath I'm going to talk about is the one that is a rectangular wooden box with one transparent "glass" (plexiglass) side and two holes on top. This sand bath is a favourite both for our gerbils and for us humans. We all love it. The gerbils seem to see it not only as a sand bath (and toilet), but also a safe hiding place where they love munching pumpkin seeds or just sitting and chilling. Advantages:- The wooden lid with the openings on top contains the sand in the sand bath; barely any sand gets thrown out.
- Entering and leaving is very easy for the gerbils.
- The two openings make sure no gerbil can block the other gerbil.
- The plexiglass side allows us to watch them in there.
- Cleaning is easy because the lid opens and closes easily.
- The sand bath doesn't take much room, stands stable and fits in well with whatever set-up your gerbilarium may have.
Disadvantages:- Of course, the plexiglass suffers a bit from all the contact with the sand, but not too badly.
- The rectangular shape creates corners that are a bit tricky to reach when sieving the sand.
- Obviously, the wood might be damaged by some gnawing. In our case, this has not happened.
I definitely recommend this sand bath.

Sounds good , is the window made of glass or plastic?

I assume it's plastic. Seems to be durable; so far it hasn't broken, so probably plastic.

Yea, looking at your link it says plexiglass which is plastic, that's why it's getting scratched by the sand (your review says glass atm). I suppose if it ever gets bad enough you could simply replace it with a glass plate, of course it wouldn't fare well then if it was dropped! But it would be far less prone to being scratched by the sand. I just looked to see if it's available here in the UK, it is .

Sorry for the confusion, I couldn't remember the term "plexiglass" when writing my little text. I edited it to avoid future confusion. Didn't want to write "plastic" because I wanted to emphasize the fact that there is a transparent side, so I wrote "glass" using quotation marks. Good thing it's available in the UK. Worth the money.
