I've been looking at new treat options for my gerbils..
I was at my local grocery store and found freeze-dried strawberries and mangos, which were much cheaper than the ones at Petsmart. The only ingredient is strawberries and mango. It does include sugar (mango: 21g and strawberry: 17g) but they aren't added sugars.
Other nutrition facts are:
Strawberry - 25g carbohydrates, 5g fiber, 1g protein Mango - 26g carbohydrates, 3g fiber, 1g protein.
Not sure if any of that matters considering its just the fruit itself with no other added ingredients, but I just wanted to make sure this is still okay to feed to my gerbils. I was also wondering how often I could feed them these...one or twice a week?

They're ok to feed. Yes, once or twice a week sounds reasonable, a piece around the size of their eye or smaller each time.

I bet the cake topper freeze dried strawberries and raspberries are the perfect size. Although having said that they are likely to be more expensive so it's probably not worth it.
Let me know how you get on with mango as I haven't tried that with our gerbils.

Oh yes, those are probably are probably more expensive...they aren't too hard to break up besides the strawberries (they get a little crumby and dusty). The Mango went well, if I remember correctly I think one of my boys was just "meh" about it...which is weird because they like fresh mango, but my other one liked it
