I wish all vets were like your Vet. I have vets close to me that see gerbils and seem to care but really, I don't feel they do care enough to help enough. I took gerbils in for dry skin near their genitals and he said most don't bring them in for this and of course, gave me a cream, which helped somewhat. It was bothering them enough that I had to and one gerbil also had a nasal dermatitis that needed oral antibiotics. Luckily it did improve.

Wow! A wealth of information there Ralliart12! How's he doing now btw? Hi Markpd catnut, I regret to inform you that Smob passed away on 17th Dec and is 3Y6M3D old as of his passing. I dropped a message to the vet to let him know that the enroflavin worked and was able to give Smob 22 precious days of quality life. I hope this data point encourages/validates the vet to not give up on any future gerbils if they need to come in.
For additional info, the median age of my colony (sample size of 13 that passed, excluding Smob), was 3Y7M old, so Smob fell a bit short.

Sorry to hear that , at least he had a good and pretty long life with you (even if he was slightly under your colony average). So the enroflavin stopped the the spasms then? Did you managed to determine what caused them btw?

...So the enroflavin stopped the the spasms then? Did you managed to determine what caused them btw? Well, from visual observations, yes, the antibiotic enroflavin did stop the spasms. And reverse-engineering this against the vet's list of possible causes, it points to a bacteria infection?
