It is never an easy decision to make - either way - but we all know how you are feeling as most of us have been there ourselves with one thing of another - but moreso for me with scent gland issues. I certainly tried the palliative route myself several times in the beginning - and sometimes it even caught me out with the speed they can grow and become infected.
Hopefully, the good times with Gerby Cash outweigh this short patch of brain ache for you - and that the fun memories soon push out this teeny sad moment from your time together.
Bless you little Cashew...

Sorry to hear Cashew is chewing at his scent gland but that can mean he is feeling pain from it and wants' it gone and if his breathing is laboured/heavier, that is also a sign it may also be internal, that is what happened to my Adam. Take care and too bad some Vets' just want to get soo much money when its' a gerbil. Know you gave him love and did all you could for him, it's hard to make this decision, been there but sometimes' it's the only choice fair to them. I would see how he is tonight and tomorrow morning before going ahead with it, sometimes they just have a bad day and seem better later. Take care, Tammy
