I have 2 boys that are brothers Jack and Victor and I would feed them the normal amount of food so they got fat even with the wheel. But this morning I noticed they have gotten really skinny. They weren't using their wheel as much as usual.
We have cats now and they sometimes sneak into my room and just stare at them sometimes jump on their tanks. Could they have developed PTSD? Or are they being picky of what food they want? They are 3 years old.

This isn't good. I think it's time to consider taking them to the vet for an examination. Dramatic weight loss in animals normally means that there is some kind of health issue. In your case, they have reached an age where it could be that things are going for the worse, I'm afraid.

Good luck with that, I hope you can find someone soon!
Oh, and I think it would be good to lock the cats away from the gerbils to give them more rest.

I don't know if that causes pain but in case it does I didn't want him to have go through it.

So sad - but like you say - he didn't have to suffer.
It's never an easy decision, but if both you and your vet agreed, then this was the right thing for you to do.
