Last night I noticed my Pallid gerbils mating, was surprised as I didn't think they were sexually mature yet! So,unless they were practising ,we might have babies soon. Lydia

Welcome to this forum, Lydia! Great to have someone here that has pallid gerbils! And they will have pups, let us know!!!!!! ;D And by the way.....we love photos. Do you have some of your gerbils? And do you have two pallid gerbils, or more? Peter.

Hi Peter, I'm a bit useless and haven't taken any pics of my pallids yet .I'm also useless at downsizing them....so I send them to a friend to downsize them for me . I'm very lucky and have a pair of female mongolian gerbils, called Bubble and Squeek. They are 3 yrs old now,but still fit, healthy, and very cheeky. I bought my pair of pallids recently, from a nice lady at the Reading show on 4th Sept.I've called them Fudge and Smudge and am very impressed with them. Not very experienced with keeping them really,as I haven't had them long,so they're being kept very busy teaching me what they like and dislike, and how to care for them ;D. I will take some pics soon, and post them on here.Definitely when they've had their pups. Lyd

Hi Doomgerbiluk and Andrea, well Doomgerbiluk, my Pallids sex practice has taken new bounds. They are still practising,or at least he is whenever she'll let him.which seems to be most of the time, they seem to tie now,(using that expression, which is usually used for dogs, foxes etc as it describes them perfectly). Unfortunately,I've not had my camera turned on their cage when they're mating, but she lifts her tail and rear end high into the air (her tail is slightly off to one side) and his back feet are sort of dangling in the air.... Not qiute what I expected for small rodents mating. They look like real contortionists. As to wether they are managing this successfully regarding pups, about a week to ten days ago,I did witness her cleaning herself, now she doesn't bother, she helps him clean himself. Hopefully she hasn't mistaken his privates for a mealworm or I'm now the proud owner of a castrated male pallid ;D. Andrea, the dogs loved their brekkie, although the whippies were horrified at my terriers lack of table manners. They are not fed together at home, cos while the whippies are deciding wether to sart eating or not,the terrier will scoff the lot .Which happened at Fourpoints,by the time the whippies were ready to sniff the dubious looking breakfast (I should have knicked the plate for them to eat off )the terrier had scoffed most of it .
