I've recently introduce one of my females to a male and today I saw she has something protruding a little from her vagina!!! It feels kinda hard and her birth canal is stretched... The bedding has some blood. I thought she was pregnant earlier but thought otherwise cuz of the overdue gestation period... Help...

Ugh! I pulled it out and it smells quite bad. It's bony white and solid, like cartilage bone, but more solid. It's shaped like half of a shrivelled peanut.... What on earth just came out of my gerbil?!

I would assume what was meant was a feotus that died in the womb and from the sound of it was partially calcified. The smell would be decay.

That's really sad for me as I wasn't sure if she was pregnant... Do you think this could affect any possible future litters? And what could have caused the babies to die?

LOL I dont have a camera yet... Don't worry, I'll borrow one tomorrow. Heya, do all duprasis need something to hide in? Like a jar or mug? Because out of the 9 duprasis I have, one of them doesn't have a hiding place and he is in the worst condition compared to all the others. Thanks for the help everyone... The vet said it's probably a failed litter and she absorbed the litter, leaving the bone matter, like woestrat and doomgerbiluk said.

Any idea how large should a breeding tank be? I want to curb the things that may have or may cause any stress to the pregnant or nursing females so any tips will be appreciated. I want to make every litter and pup count.

I'm still waiting for this female to recover a little before I mate her again. I have another 3 more females that I've been waiting to mate, but were all still too young. Now one of them is almost ready and I think I will use a larger tank for the pregnant female as I read it causes less stress.
