Ok, basically, I am looking to get my hands on a Shaw's Jird. I am currently an owner of two Mongolian gerbil sisters (one black and one slate). I am looking to "expand" my gerbil collection and would like to get a single female Shaw's Jird. I've done all the research etc, and will be going out to buy a tank and get it ready this weekend, but I can't seem to find any breeder listings or similar on the internet for them. Is it common to find Shaw's Jirds in pet shops? There are quite a few reputable pet shops nearby to me. Does anybody know of any breeders or pet shops that are likely to have Shaw's Jirds around the West Yorkshire area, preferably Leeds? Anyway, thanks in advance, and I hope somebody can help me find one .

How comes you are only getting one Shaw's jird?...Shouldn't you get 2 so that they dont get lonely?!
I would keep an eye out for a breeder i dont think many pet shops stock them as they mainly stock the bog standard of animals.

It's ok to own a single female Shaw's Jird as they are very territorial and will not mind being alone (they can fight to the death in groups). Male Shaw's Jirds however will be kept in groups but I would prefer a female one.
