Hey,
I just picked up two burmese gerbils, when I had asked about the species, and what makes them cost more, than the mongolians their reply was that it was a diffrent breed....
I always thought that burmese was a morph, not a breed.
One is white, and the other is a dark brown.

Burmese is a color not a breed. Whoever told you different is quite wrong LOL
The Burmese colour is a dark brown coat with black tips.

Thats what I had thought. I should be rich right now, to have a white eyed black burmese eh?

I've always been told that my Rocky is a spotted Burmese, but I would have said his coat is a stone dark grey colour, and not dark brown - does that mean he isn't a burmese then? I've never been hot on the genetics things! ;D

He looks a spotted Burmese to me?
The Sp gene can do a GOOD deal of lightening to the coat (stone gray). He's def. too dark to be Siamese.

Looks burmese to me, but it can be difficult. Sp does "wash" the color, but burmese and CP slate look an awful lot alike. Spotted Colourpoint Slate, aa c(chm)c(chm) D* E* gg P* Spsp, on right
