You should make the pic of the gerbil on the top of the forum link back to the main site. Or something. There isn't even a link anywhere to the main site. Might help no0bs who find the site by google and then post on the board and can't get back to it or something. Or might give noobs something to read while they wait for people to reply to their posts. Or me.. I had to click Peter's name at the top because I knew the link was in his sig.

Hey, that always bothered me too! I think Peter would get more hits on his site if he had an obvious link. I know I found a link to it somewhere here, but I've forgotten already .

That is indeed a good idea, but I'm not sure if it will be possible, because this is a free forum with many limitations. I don't have the money for a better forum right now! ;D But I will see what I can do!

it is possible peter, go into admin tools and you can make headers and footers, they go just above the gooooooogle adverts bar.
You can put the html code in their for either a graphic or text hyperlink to the main site.

Peter, I sense that you feel Ackward or apologetic regarding the forum. The limitations and the fact that is free does not invalidate or lessen the Forum . This is still the best Forum that I have been to ! I am not just saying that either. I bet there is some way that you can get a link within the guidlelines. Of course, I am no computer genius . Good luck!

Ohh, it can be done by making header and footers! I wil try it as soon I have time. Thanks
Sweety, I cannot be here as often as I would want. My internship at an education department of a Dutch zoo (Aqua Zoo Friesland) takes a lot of time and since my mother is in hospital I have even less time.

OK I have done it! From now you see a banner of The Mongolian Gerbil Website and when you click on it you will open the website. J, that was a very good suggestion! And Darren, thank you for telling me how to do it! ;D

It looks great!! I am glad you could do it.
I am sorry about your Mom in the hospital. I hope all is well. It sounds like your internship is exciting and demanding at the same time!

Thanks! Yes my internship is indeed great and demanding! It is a zoo is in Leeuwarden, a city in the north of the Netherlands. The city is the capital of the province of Friesland (Fryslân). They have also their own language beside Dutch. They speak also Frisian. Sometimes they are hard to understand, but luckily they can speak Dutch too. The zoo is very new, only two years old! It is still developing and growing every years. So there is a lot to do. The assignment that they have given me is to develop an area of the zoo about the typical nature of their province, with typical animals and plants. Combined with the Frisian culture. The purpose is to educate people on their nature and environment in such a way that they will make more effort to protect the nature, flora and fauna in their neighbourhood. Both for adults as for children.

It sounds like an incredible position . It is an awesome opportunity and experience. Is that what you are going to do when you finish schooling? I wish people where more concerned about the environment. Many people don't see the importance of keeping the habitat. We loose many plants from building and consequently the animals too since there is no food or shelter. Then we loose the animals that feed on the one's that are now gone. And so it goes on and on. Here in South Carolina, we have an issue with a plant called Kudzu. People introduced it years back as a ground cover to prevent erosion. Now it is choking the native trees and vegitation. It can grow up to 6 inches in a day!! People don't realize the effects introducing a non native plant or animal. Like the gypsy moth caterpillar. It eats all the leaves off the trees. Causes considerable amounts of waste and they have no natural preditors to keep the population in check. Oh well, I could go on and on but I won't. I am glad you have an awesome internship. You are very knowledgeable and thanks again for sharing that with us!

Good Luck - keep us posted on how it goes.. If you get chance to take some piccys of the animals, they will be well enjoyed here.

I have several pics, I will add them later!
It is indeed a great internship. Only almost fineshed. In December I hope to start with my second internship. I'm hoping that it will be Alertis, a foundation for bear and nature conservation and protection. Especially bears, the European brown bear. Agains abuse in some countries (forced dancing for tourists) and to protect their habitat, so that they can survive in Europe or maybe even come back to some countries where it has disappeard, like in most western European countries. I haven't had an answer, so we will see.
