I don't know about reptile sand..
It's usually really crystally and chunky and colored. More for show.
I wouldn't use it. They probably wouldn't bathe in it.

any bedding will cause respirtory problems in any animal which lives in a tank, with out ventilation, so its a matter of choosing the most suitable cage which allows natural behaviour and ventilation. a tank with a mesh lid, to me isnt enough, personally i have a rotastak cage with metal grills on the sides. I only have one girble but a method i have used to keep it company is to use a mouse toy for cats!!! it works. i use chinchilla sand, as it is safe for a chinchilla so its bound to be safe for a smaller rodent.
