Forum Guidelines
These guidelines will help you to get the most out of this forum, while maintaining the forum so it's useful to everyone. These guidelines are applicable to pretty much all internet forums!
Forum Etiquette
These guidelines will help you to get the most out of this forum, while maintaining the forum so it's useful to everyone. These guidelines are applicable to pretty much all internet forums!
- Follow the Forum Rules.
- Per the Forum Rules, you must be at least 13 years old to be a member of this forum.
- Per the Forum Rules, you may not post "flames" or hurtful personal comments.
- Do not post nonsense "spam" posts. Posts with a dozen smilies and no content will be removed by a moderator.
- To make a new post, choose the board that fits the topic of your post and click on the board title. For example, if you have a question about aspen bedding, choose the "Housing, Accessories, Bedding, and Toys" board. Then, in the upper right corner of the screen, click new thread. Type your post and click "Post Message" at the bottom of the screen.
- If you have something to add to your post and no one has replied yet, consider editing your posts instead of hitting "reply" and posting again. Edit your posts by clicking the "Edit" button in the upper right corner of the post.
Forum Etiquette
- Search before you post. The search button is located at the top of your screen, under the "Gerbil Forum" image banner. Chances are that another member has had the same question as you! In addition, check the FAQ to see if your topic has been covered. But, if you still have questions that are not answered in that thread, feel free to start a new topic.
- Use descriptive post titles. Other members may have the same question as you, and a post title like "I have a question" or "Help!" will not help them find an answer to their question. Instead, write "When can I separate mother from pups?" or "Gerbil's eye is bleeding!"
- Fun and games threads belong in the Games Board (under Slow Chat). Moderators will move a thread to the Games Board if it is excessively cheap and made to drive up post counts.
- Please do not resurrect old posts. If a post is several months old, in general please don't write a response to it (pinned and game threads excluded).
- Please try not to use slang in posts. Proper English makes reading the post so much easier for other members.
- When responding to someone else's post, it is best to use the "quote" function of the forum to know who and what you are referring to in your post.
