I wouldn't know any other paper products than can harm gerbil than you mention in your last post! I've heard from someone that he didn't feed those boxes for eggs, because of the danger of an infection with salmonella. However, where I live, in the Netherlands (I'm not sure if it is in the whole EU) it is illegal to sell eggs that contain salmonella (difficult to check I think). So personally I think it would not really harm too give them, and when I have some I will give it always to my gerbils when it is empty.

I don't know if the same applies here in Ireland but I never give them empty egg cartons just in case. I always remember my mother saying when I was younger that egg boxes carry salmonella germs and whenever you boil eggs always wash your hands straight after if any of the water gets on them! My mother has been known to exaggerate at times so I don't know how true that is...better to be safe anyway!
